Madiba as Nelson Mandella is fondly called was a global icon and a winner of Nobel Peace prize. The United Nations set aside this day 18th July (his birthday) to mark this Nobel Laureate who fought for the emancipation of black South Africa’s and put an end to apartheid. He became the first black South African President from 1994-1999 after being released from the prison. The world celebrates him today as he has added value to the dignity of human race.
The FUPRECSD in collaboration with FADE Africa marked this year’s International Mandela Day at Mandela Park Asaba, where Prof Wole Soyinka was a Guest speaker and delivered a speech on the theme “Climate, Food and Solidarity.
The event was attended by Government officials, industry players, academia, communities, civic societies etc.
